Lakeview New Campus
HealthPartners
BWBR partnered with HealthPartners on the next evolution of Lakeview Hospital, creating a state-of-the-art regional healthcare destination rooted in the St. Croix Valley and inspired by the iconic Stillwater Lift Bridge. Building on over 140 years of service to the community, the new location will offer improved emergency and critical care as well as specialized services like a family birth center, TRIA Orthopedics Clinic, cardiac catheterization lab, and cancer care. In collaboration with Architect of Record HKS and contractor Kraus-Anderson, this Target Value Design project utilized LEAN principles to execute an efficient, effective design process, improving operational efficiency and providing enhanced room design and wayfinding for patients and visitors while allowing for future expansion.
Designed with nature views from patient rooms, the campus includes walking trails connecting to local paths and sustainable practices that preserve over 94 percent of the five acres of onsite wetlands. The tower design reduces the overall building footprint and preserves the natural features of the site, with attention given to providing sound and visibility buffering to integrate the campus seamlessly into the surrounding neighborhood.
Mike Boldenow, BWBR Healthcare Principal, on the project’s impact: “Professionally, I have been honored to work with HealthPartners for over 30 years. Personally, as a resident of the Stillwater community, it’s been my privilege to represent the design team at city meetings and open houses. Lakeview is my local hospital, where my family and I receive care, and there’s no stronger connection than that.”
