“I came to the practice of architecture from a background in art and engineering and an interest in many fields. Architecture is a satisfying synthesis of diverse pursuits to produce enduring structures that contribute to meaningful existence. Beyond solving prosaic needs for space, architecture communicates values and speaks to psychological and emotional needs as well as physical. Our buildings mean something, and this meaning is understood through analogies and associations to broader life experience. Architecture is a kind of shared poetry and collaborating in its creation is a joy.”
