Fourth Street Parking Ramp

Minneapolis, Minn.

Design of this landmark ramp started a tradition of putting a clock on all University of Minnesota ramps and set a high aesthetic standard for future parking facilities on campus. Located at a highly visible edge of campus, the site provided an opportunity to project the distinctive character of some of the campus’s early buildings.

The distinctive design’s highly visible stair and elevator interiors, comfortable lighting levels and security systems provide a user-friendly parking environment. Controlled first-floor access; open, visible stairwell; and elevator cabs and lobbies were integrated into the solution to provide security and comfort. The prominent glass stair/elevator tower and arched forms give the ramp a welcoming and open feel.
