Lund Center Expansion and Renovation

St. Peter, Minn.

Pursuing LEED Silver

As part of a Gustavus Adolphus College comprehensive improvements campaign, the 1980s-era Lund Center will receive the first expansion of its lifetime. The project goals are to offer a better wellness experience for all users; provide a more functional and efficient space for athletics, academics, and recreation; and implement necessary updates and improvements for one of the most-visited buildings on campus.

New cardio, group workout, and weights facilities provide five times the square footage of the previous spaces and are all adaptable to fit future needs. A new athletic office suite and fully renovated academic spaces modernize the coaching and learning experience. A new 53,000-square-foot fieldhouse will be shared among Gustavus’s school sports and intramural teams.

A new home for Health and Exercise Science includes a Human Performance Lab with twice as much research space than the existing lab offered. All classrooms and learning spaces in the department provide hands-on learning opportunities for the Health and Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, and Athletic Training majors, as well as the Coaching minor.
