Lakewood Health System

Cancer patients in the Brainerd Lakes region needed comprehensive care in one location—with faster access and environments that honored their dignity throughout treatment. Lakewood Health System stepped up, expanding their oncology program with a dedicated physician and a new Cancer Center offering medical oncology, radiation oncology, hematology, infusion therapy, and palliative care.

BWBR’s design embodies Lakewood’s commitment to patient-centered care. The linear accelerator vault—clad in sleek metal and warm local stone—becomes a beacon for precision and hope. Infusion rooms frame calming views of the wetlands during long treatments. Patient areas are spacious and private, designed for comfort and dignity. Throughout, the interiors create an environment that feels both professional and welcoming. This expansion deepens BWBR’s long partnership with Lakewood, building on the rural healthcare campus we completed in 2006 that’s become a regional care provider of choice.
