Westfields Hospital & Clinic
Emergency Department Expansion and Remodeling
New Richmond, Wis.
2018 Gold Award, Projects of Distinction/Excellence in Construction, Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin
Westfields Hospital & Clinic implemented a phased series of additions and interior remodeling projects to accommodate increased patient volumes in the Level 4, trauma certified Emergency Department, as well as reorganize, consolidate, and enlarge surrounding departments for greater operational efficiency and patient privacy.
The 9,000 sq. ft. ED renovation encompassed the third phase of Westfields’ improvements — space four times larger than the previous ED space. By moving into the former Sleep, Physical/Occupational Therapy, and Surgery pre-/post-procedure areas, the ED renovation accommodated new trauma bays, a family consult room, a new entry canopy and vestibule to improve flow, and a stand-alone ambulance garage adjacent to the main ED entry. Refreshed public corridors and subwait areas feature artistic touches to enhance the patient experience, while guiding families and visitors to places of respite.
Size: 40,000 sq. ft. (all three phases), including 9,000 sq. ft. Emergency Department
Components: New trauma bays; family consult room; new entry canopy and vestibule; adjacent stand-alone ambulance garage
