St. Francis Regional Medical Center

Lobby Expansion

Shakopee, Minn.

The St. Francis Regional Medical Center addition creates a prominent, visual entry point for guests, providing easier access to the hospital, clinics, and new retail areas. A wide concourse leads visitors to a medical retail area that includes a pharmacy, as well as CPAP, optical, and home care stores, and a gift shop. The new 1,843 s.f. Allina retail pharmacy is conveniently located near the new front door.

The two-story entry lobby has a vaulted glass facade that brings in natural light. Interior LED ambient lighting, soft seating and lounging areas, Terrazzo floors, a color-changing fireplace, and a guest welcome center reduce stress and create a positive first impression. The grounds outside the entrance feature colorful plantings and have a snowmelt system for safer access during the winter. Exterior lighting was carefully designed to reduce light pollution by using LEDs that direct light downward.
