Women’s Recovery Center
Center City, Minn.
Drawing upon Hazelden’s philosophy of treating the whole person as well as the disease, the center’s design allows its staff to address women’s life issues and roles in the treatment context, promotes interaction and instills a renewed sense of dignity and personal empowerment.
Patient rooms comfortably accommodate three women each, with space and new room configurations that address patients’ requests for more bathroom space and privacy. The design situates bedrooms in clusters, departing from the traditional dorm-like arrangement. It also supports professional and peer counseling by providing space for both structured treatment and casual interface.
