UNIs park-like campus in Cedar Falls is home to more than
50 major buildings on 850 acres. UNI administration emphasized the
need for the Addition to harmonize with the early 1900s traditional
campus architecture surrounding it.
The science faculty emphasizes an intimate teaching environment,
and wanted the addition to be welcoming, comfortable, dynamic, and
state-of-
the-art.
With its traditional red brick exterior, plentiful windows, and
energizing interior spaces, the new science center strikes a balance
of identity and continuity ... of future vision and a sense of history
... of the built environment and the natural setting of the surrounding
campus.
