Attention to details make the tank an attractive neighbor by day and by night

From nearby buildings, or from the freeway, the tank is designed to be an attractive part of the city and a recognizable neighborhood feature.

Stone and brick were selected to complement the feel of the area, which includes a new urban village of downtown apartments and townhouses. Windows are arranged to break down the scale of the facility and contribute
to a pedestrian-sized streetscape.

The tank’s cladding shifts from dark at the bottom to light at the top – symbolic of the layers of warm and cool water inside. Accent bands at the top are reminiscent of waves, referencing the nearby Mississippi River. 16-foot tall custom light fixtures sit atop 50-foot pilasters, creating gentle beacons of light at night-time.
