Founded to promote the education of the "Total Architect,"
the BWBR Prize gives students a chance to show their work and compete
for a financial prize. Since the mid-1990s, BWBR has offered the
BWBR Prize annually at one or more university campuses. Currently, the BWBR Prize is offered at
North Dakota State
University (NDSU) and Iowa
State University (ISU). The prize is awarded through a two-step
process that parallels the "real world" process clients
often use to select an architect:
Faculty invites selected third-year students to display their work
during a campus visit by two or more BWBR representatives. Several
finalists are shortlisted whose work shows the highest degree of
thoroughness, organization, design merit and communication potential.
The finalists visit BWBRs St. Paul offices to present their
work to a panel of jurors in an interview setting. The panel evaluates the students' presentations on their organization, thoroughness, design merit, and
communication skills.
Presentations for the 2007 BWBR Prize competitions took place April 29 and May 3. Find out more about the finalists and winners.
