Medical facilities today are a complex and unique blend of environments
and services. Aesthetics and services affect a hospitals or
clinics ability to compete as much as medical competence.
Modern health care facilities focus beyond physical wellness to
consider the whole patient in the healing process
including spiritual, emotional and social needs. Health care professionals
understand that treating an illness is only one step in building
a comprehensive caregiving relationship with patients, their families
and the community. Likewise, designers realize that architectural
elements and interior design can play an important role in reinforcing
the healing philosophy of a medical facility. While this has always
been true, it is a more exciting time than ever to be designing
medical facilities.
